Opened in 2017, Andaz Singapore marks the brand’s first foray into Southeast Asia. The 342-room property occupies the upper floors of the DUO Singapore complex, set within the rapidly evolving Kampong Glam neighbourhood. Designed by renowned Hong Kong interior designer André Fu, the hotel joins the much older Grand Hyatt Singapore as only the second Hyatt property in the city-state. Despite its location within a modern office tower, the hotel’s design beautifully captures the eclectic essence of the surrounding Bugis neighbourhood.
Booking Andaz Singapore
For my three-night stay, I paid a nightly rate of SGD 380, inclusive of taxes – roughly equating to USD 276 or GBP 210; this booked me into an entry-level Andaz Room, without breakfast. Considering how inflated Singapore hotel prices have become in recent years, this was definitely one of the better rates for a stay at the well-regarded Andaz. On this trip, I reserved the hotel through Agoda.com, which had been the only website offering this price.
Location
Andaz Singapore sits at the edge of the historic Bugis district, an area that has evolved into a bustling shopping hub. In its fast-growing neighbourhood, the hotel is surrounded by new office developments and located close to Raffles Hospital. Most notably, the hotel borders the vibrant Kampong Glam neighbourhood, known for its independent boutiques, cafés, and restaurants housed in colourful Peranakan shophouses. The area’s biggest draw is Haji Lane, a narrow pedestrian street filled with numerous street art.

The hotel enjoys excellent connectivity, with direct access to Bugis MRT Station by way of the DUO complex and a seamless link to the Bugis Junction mall (more on that later). Beneath the property sits a mixed-use retail podium that offers a variety of Japanese and European restaurants, cafés, and delis. The hotel also sits within walking distance of the SUNTEC Convention Centre and the popular Atlas Bar located in the neighbouring Parkview Square building.
Check-in
After being dropped off at the Andaz Singapore entrance within DUO Singapore, I was warmly greeted by a doorman who promptly assisted with my luggage. Upon entering the ground-floor lobby, he explained that the main lobby was located on Level 25. After handing me a valet tag for my bags, he directed me to the lifts leading up to the hotel’s sky lobby.

Arriving on Level 25, I was greeted by a lively scene of both holidaymakers and businesspeople alike, giving the eclectically designed lobby an energetic yet surprisingly orderly atmosphere. Although the check-in podiums were busy, an agent quickly approached me before inviting me over to a previously unmanned podium to complete the check-in process.

The service throughout was efficient yet friendly, with the agent making light conversation as I filled out the registration details on a tablet. Before long, my passport and credit card were returned, room keys for my accommodation on Level 36 were issued. With all that done, I was directed to a separate bank of lifts – located behind the main elevators from the ground floor – that serves the guestroom floors.

When the lift doors opened, I was immediately struck by the hotel’s stunning indoor atrium, whose vast open space created an almost awe-inspiring sense of scale and tranquillity. The sheer volume of the space gave the interior a remarkable feeling of calm, despite the bustle elsewhere in the hotel. I was particularly surprised to encounter such an atrium in a relatively new property, given how rare these dramatic spaces have become in modern hotel design.

Andaz Room
At 37 sqm (408 sqft), the Andaz Rooms are among the largest entry-level guestrooms found in Singapore’s newer hotels. As expected from an André Fu-designed interior, the room felt both elegant and remarkably homey. Warm lighting, paired with the extensive use of wood and soft fabric finishes, gave the space a welcoming sense of cosiness while still maintaining an airy and open feel.

Being located on the 36th floor, the room commanded impressive views over the surrounding neighbourhoods. On this occasion, I was assigned a room overlooking the charming Kampong Glam district towards Singapore’s eastern side. From above, the area’s colourful shophouses and low-rise streetscape created a striking contrast against the modern skyline beyond. I should note that the views were slightly obstructed by the building’s fritted window panels. These were designed to provide passive cooling for the building’s interior.
Bedroom
At the centre of the room sat two comfortable beds framed by a soft leather headboard. Opposite them was a large smart television mounted against the wall. The beds were dressed in thick, plush duvets that paired wonderfully with the room’s cold air-conditioning. Combined with the room’s warm tones, the overall atmosphere felt especially cosy.

One feature I particularly appreciated was the sofa and table setup by the window-side corner of the room. The arrangement was ergonomic and thoughtfully designed; it functioned equally well as both a dining area and a workspace. For one, the setup also felt well suited to the lifestyle-oriented nature of the Andaz brand. I’ll add that universal power outlets were also conveniently placed throughout the room. These could be found beside the nightstand as well as by the sofa area.

One standout feature of the room are the pair of French doors separating the bedroom from the bathroom and entryway. Finished in yellow, they serve as an elegant and subtle nod to the window shutters commonly found on the Peranakan shophouses lining the surrounding Bugis and Kampong Glam neighbourhoods. These local touches also extend to the complimentary minibar, which is stocked with a variety of locally sourced snacks and beverages alongside a beer brewed exclusively for Andaz Singapore. I will also add that two reusable water bottles are provided as gifts for each stay.

Bathroom
Located to the side of the bedroom is the spacious bathroom, which is divided into four distinct areas comprising a powder room, walk-in closet, separate toilet room, and shower stall. The powder room is undoubtedly the standout feature, centred around a large vanity counter complete with a stool. As is increasingly common at newer and recently renovated hotels, a filtered drinking water dispenser is also integrated directly into the sink.

The walk-in shower itself is impressively spacious and airy, finished in attractive stone and wood-effect tiles that complement the room’s warm design language. Both handheld and rain showerheads are fitted, with excellent water pressure and temperature control. I’ll add that the bath amenities are by Christophe Laudamiel, featuring a scent created exclusively for Andaz Singapore. Unsurprisingly, these were excellent.

Finally, a narrow corridor beside the shower and connected to the entryway serves as the room’s generous walk-in closet. Tucked within a nook here is also a separate toilet room complete with its own sink. As is common across the region, a handheld bidet spray is fitted alongside the toilet.

Overall, while I found the bathroom to be beautifully appointed, I was surprised by the absence of a bathtub. There is certainly enough space for one, and I feel its inclusion would have further enhanced the room’s otherwise resort-like ambience.
Wellness
Lobby Lounge
True to Andaz’s lifestyle-oriented positioning, a small selection of complimentary drinks and light snacks is offered to guests at the lobby lounge. Fresh fruit is provided alongside a modest assortment of local snacks and cookies. There are also two beverage machines dispensing espresso-based drinks and hot chocolate, in addition to infused water stations. While the selection itself is fairly simple, it is nevertheless a pleasant amenity to have, especially when paired with the relaxing ambience of the space.

Pool
Located just beyond the lobby on Level 25 is the hotel’s infinity pool. Open daily from 08.00 to 22.00, the pool sits on a beautifully landscaped outdoor deck surrounded by tropical greenery, fitting for Singapore’s reputation as a ‘city within a garden.’ Boasting sweeping 270-degree views across Kallang and downtown Singapore, the panorama from the pool easily ranks among the best in the city.

Running along one side of the 20-metre pool is a neat row of sun loungers, each accompanied by matching parasols and side tables. At one end of the pool, two additional pairs of loungers are positioned to face directly towards Singapore’s sprawling downtown skyline. Either way you really can’t go wrong, making the pool area for an especially scenic place to relax.

Fitness Centre
Located on Level 38, the Andaz fitness centre is open 24 hours a day for all hotel guests. The cool, air-conditioned space houses a compact yet comprehensive selection of cardio and weight-training equipment, alongside a dedicated free-weight area at the far end of the room. Although the setting feels somewhat sterile in appearance, I nevertheless appreciated the variety of modern equipment available.

The elliptical machines and treadmills are positioned in one corner of the gym, thoughtfully placed beside the windows overlooking the surrounding skyscrapers. The remainder of the space is occupied by a selection of weight machines and free weights, alongside several yoga mats and exercise balls. While I was impressed by the range of equipment on offer, I did find the fitness centre somewhat confined, particularly for a hotel of this size.

DUO Singapore
As previously mentioned, the hotel is located within the mixed-use DUO Singapore complex. Beneath the property lies a retail podium housing a wide variety of restaurants and bars, offering cuisines ranging from East Asian fare to French dining. The podium also connects directly to Bugis MRT Station via a long underground corridor lined with convenience stores, cafés, and takeaway outlets – making the hotel particularly convenient for both dining and transport. I’ll also add that the corridor extends all the way to the neighbouring Bugis Junction shopping mall.

Service
Overall, I found the service at Andaz Singapore to be consistently friendly and pleasant throughout my stay. While I cannot say I interacted with many staff members over the course of my three nights there, every encounter was met with warm smiles and a genuinely helpful attitude. In many ways, the service was exactly what one would expect from a premium city hotel – professional, efficient, and personable.
Overall
Despite the high expectations I had built up for the hotel, I still left feeling thoroughly impressed by my stay. Between its exceptional location and wonderfully designed rooms, Andaz Singapore truly has all the makings of an outstanding hotel. While I do wish the room had included a bathtub, the overall experience still felt incredibly well-rounded, leaving me with very little to fault. I certainly enjoyed the gorgeous views and excellent facilities on top of the friendly service from the hotel’s staff. Suffice it to say, I would wholeheartedly recommend Andaz Singapore to anyone visiting the city-state.
